HALLOWEEN HORRORS

The autumn moon lights the sky, casting shadows over the circus.  Ghosts, ghouls, monsters, and spooks of all sorts and sizes gather for the season.  It’s the Halloween exhibit at the Sideshow of the Surreal.

Charlie Barker tells the tale of the silent watcher in the cornfields.  It’s the tale of PATIENT VICTOR.  Next, it is a story set in a school house.  It’s an innocuous little activity perfect for the season.  Grab your knife for THE PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST.  Then, it’s a little Halloween rhyme that’s overdue for a sequel.  It’s the less-than-harmless outcome of FIVE SPOOKY SKELETONS or WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE FIVE LITTLE PUMPKINS?

The chill of fall hangs in the air past October, my friends.  Return to the Circus of the Unknown where Charlie will tell tales of the season.

ALL FALL DOWN

Leaves are falling all around, It’s time I was on my way. Thanks to you I’m much obliged for such a pleasant stay. But now it’s time for me to go; the autumn moon lights my way. For now I smell the rain and with it pain and it’s headed my way.  Charlie Barker talks about the winds of change today.  The seasonal shift to autumn and tales uniquely suited to that period.

The first fall tale is about a crazed hermit in the deep forest known as BACKWOODS LARRY.  The tales of cannibalism and horror can’t be all true, can they?  Next, beware when the moon is high and the MARCH WINDS blow.  There is evil in the air.  Finally, you really need to worry WHEN THE LEAVES FALL because of what that heralds.  It can’t be good.

All signs point to the death of summer and the lingering cold of autumn.  Winter can’t be too far off, but for now there is time to run.  It’s time to ramble on, my friends.  Make haste back to your modest hovels until the circus provides a temporary reprieve from the cold, biting winds.

FAMILY MATTERS

There’s a family discount at the circus today.  Charlie Barker has deemed today “family day” at the sideshow.  Bring in your loved ones for an extra special treat.

All the tales today involve family members in one fashion or another.  The story SINS OF THE FATHER show that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.  In THE GUEST ROOM, a monster known as the Manglecraw is part of a family’s hidden legacy.  Finally, sit down for the FAMILY MEAL, where good conversation seems to be a lost art.

Remember folks, you can choose your friends but you can’t choose your family.  You are stuck with them.  Please, consider Charlie Barker as one of the family.

CHANGE FOR THE WORSE

Sometimes, things go from bad to worse.  Such is the case today in our voyage of the vanguard.  Charlie Barker knows this all too well.  Allow him to tell you three examples.

The first horror story is called SPARE CHANGE.  It is about a disgruntled candy store clerk who gets a very special customer just after closing time.  The LAW OF SALVAGE applied when a ship and diving crew try to exploit sunken treasure.  Lastly, it is another “State of Fear” legend, which is our ongoing tales from each state in the good ole USA.  This one takes place off the coast of Rhode Island aboard a haunted sea vessel in HELL FIRE OF THE PALATINE.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, or the candy store, these tales will warn otherwise.  Next Thursday the journey begins anew with three more short stories sure to send shivers down your spine.  Now, who could resist that offer?
